About Me
Mission Statement: To provide a quality educational experience to Embry Riddle students that will add value as they transfer this learning into their careers for continuous improvement of our profession.
Hi! My name is "Dr. Deb" Fisher. My first job out of college was with NASA JSC, at which time I aspired to be an astronaut. I learned to fly and because it was during the Apollo Soyez Program, I studied Russian. But at that time, the Airforce was not flying women in combat, so I subsequently opted to study engineering and have been a
practicing engineer for over 35 years. Because of my interest in working with people, I specialized in engineering project management. During my career, I have managed hundreds of millions of dollars in projects both in the private and public sectors. After practicing engineering for awhile, I went into academia because of my love of teaching. My most recent awards include the
Society of Women Engineers “Distinguished Engineering Educator” in 2005, Public
Works’ magazine “50 Trendsetters” in 2006, and The Association for the
Advancement of Cost Engineering’s “Brian Dunfield Educational Service Award” in
2008. I have been invited to
give keynotes and presentations at a variety of venues, including the National
Society of Civil Engineers Conference, and the Atomic Weapons Establishment in
